Vicki Watson I don't usually have that problem. More often I can't find enough time to write. But when I was writing the Christmas book, I found it quite intimidating. I wanted the book to present the Scriptural side of Christmas accurately while also delivering an emotional impact. I kept reading short stories about Christmas until I found one that presented the emotion I was looking for. That seemed to unlock ideas.

Also for book 10 in the Sonrise Stable series, I kept procrastinating because once again, I wanted the last book to be special, so I was rather afraid to start it, thinking I didn't have a solid enough idea for the entire book. Finally, I just started writing, and the ideas began to come together.
Vicki Watson My goal has been to write books that have an eternal impact. I love it when I hear from young readers or their parents who relate how much the books have inspired or encouraged them.
Vicki Watson Write about what you know and love - it's much easier to stay motivated. Keep learning! Even if you only glean a tip or two from a writing book or course, continually try to learn new things. Find someone who will give you honest critiques. You won't progress if you only have a friend or relative who is afraid to let you know your writing isn't very good - yet!
Vicki Watson With the Sonrise Stable series complete, my focus will be on the History on Horseback series, which will consist of 3 books with accompanying activity guides.
Vicki Watson Generally, I have ideas in my head ping-ponging around that drive me crazy unless I write about them. I can't imagine sitting down and forcing myself to write. I don't think I could make myself come up with interesting ideas.
Vicki Watson I wanted to conclude the series with themes from the two commandments Jesus called the greatest - Love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. And the 2nd - Love your neighbor as yourself. Those became the themes and starting points for books 9 & 10.
