Travis Anderson Besides reading other authors works, I rely upon music to inspire and pace my scenes by. Movie soundtracks are the best for pacing and evoking emotions that can be put into your own work.

But reading other authors' works cannot be stressed enough. You'll learn more about the mechanics of writing reading a short story, novella, or novel than in a sterile environment.
Travis Anderson Never give up. There are so many avenues towards publication nowadays that it is nearly impossible not to draw an audience, however large or small.
Travis Anderson It clears the mental log jam. I've always had stories and visuals running through my head. Writing is an outlet to share those visions and also to release them so I can move on to the next project.
Travis Anderson I usually am writing more than one outline at a time. When I get blocked on one I work on the other. The change of focus generally liberates my thinking process and allows me to return to my "primary" project.

However, that said, when the "primary" outline is finished I actualize the story with dialogue and descriptives thereby fleshing it out as a fully realized story.
