You have different publishers for your different books. Have you ever experienced being rejected by a publisher? What would you advice new authors about their works not ending up in a slush pile?

Mary E. DeMuth Oh yes, I've been rejected a lot. First, you have to settle your worth. (Your worth is not tied to rejection or acceptance). Second, if you're a novelist, have a professional look at what you've done so you are putting your best novel forward. If you write nonfiction, your proposal has to shine. How do you deal with writer’s block?

Mary E. DeMuth I typically don't struggle with that. I force myself to make word count goals, even when I feel uninspired. Just getting my mind and fingers going makes me persevere and finish.
