Hi,
Thank you very much for your question and for your enthusiasm! Very happy to hear that you can visualise the war. That’s exactly what I’ve tried to do - take you there.
In answer to your question, I personally chose and liked the title Across a Bridge of Dreams. But the publisher felt it didn’t tell people clearly enough what the book was about - and, as you point out, The Samurai’s Daughter chimes better with the titles of the other four books in the quartet.
V best,
Lesley

Hi Laura,
What a lovely question - thank you! Have asked the publisher but they say no plans, certainly not at the moment, so I'm afraid you'll have to buy them separately. So glad you enjoy my work! By the way, please start with The Shogun's Queen, then The Last Concubine; then The Courtesan and the Samurai and last The Samurai's Daughter. Hope you enjoy and letme know what you think!

Thanks so much for asking Lesley, I'll order them separately. I've just finished The Shogun's Queen and I absolutely loved it, I cannot wait to start the rest. My favourite author for many years has been Lian Hearn, and it was her quote on the cover of The Shogun's Queen that prompted me to read it, and I'm so glad that I did. I love the Japanese historical fiction genre, I'm also a big fan of Min Jin Lee's Pachinko. Do you plan on writing any more books?

Yes, I love Lian Hearn! Am pondering what to write about next, having completed the quartet. Four books is quite a lot of writing, so I'm resting for the moment. If you have a chance do please have a look at my Geisha: The Secret History of a Vanishing World and Sadayakko - on the geisha who was the model for Madame Butterfly. Happy reading!

Hi, thank you! In terms of the historical period, you should read The Last Concubine first, then The Courtesan and the Samurai and lastly The Samurai's Daughter. But they all stand alone, so you can read any of them without reading the others. Good luck and happy reading!
