Tracy Banghart I wrote Perfect Girl for young adult readers, generally considered 14+. But I know 12 and 13 year olds often read that age group (I did when I was that age!) If you’ve read other YA books, I would say it’s appropriate! It depends on your personal comfort level. The characters in the book are mostly 16/17. The story does have violence and peril, but it’s written through the eyes of a teenager so the horror is more in the tension and overall vibe, versus on-page gore. There is no sex. The characters do swear, as is typical for teenagers. :) I hope this helps!
Tracy Banghart I wish! But nothing's in the works for now. Maybe someday!
Tracy Banghart I would love to revisit the world of these books someday but I currently have no plans to. Right now I'm working on a YA fantasy called A SEASON OF SINISTER DREAMS, about two girls - an unwilling prophet and a vengeful imposter - who are fighting to save their kingdom, leaving death and destruction in their wake. :-) It comes out in 2021!
Tracy Banghart I think I have a little of Serina AND Nomi in me - I'm the responsible older sister like Serina, but I've got a rebellious streak like Nomi. I'm not sure what my Myers Briggs is, and as for character development, usually my characters are aspirational in some way. They find a strength within themselves that I wish I had, or they fight back against something that holds them back.
Tracy Banghart Right now I'm working on a new YA fantasy called A SEASON OF SINISTER DREAMS. It's about two girls, one an unwilling prophet, the other a vengeful imposter, who are fighting to save their kingdom, leaving death and destruction in their wake. It'll be out in 2021 from Little Brown!
Tracy Banghart Two books! Serina and Nomi's story is complete with QUEEN OF RUIN. :-)
Tracy Banghart Thank you! I chose a patriarchal society because I felt like I could use it to explore concerns and fears I had about our own society through it. It was difficult to write in places, but also cathartic.
Tracy Banghart The sequel will publish in the US and UK in July 2019!
Tracy Banghart All of my books published to date are available through Amazon only, I'm afraid! Sorry about that! My new book, GRACE AND FURY, coming out in Spring 2018, will be available widely, including Google Play. Thanks!
Tracy Banghart I really, really hope that someday Storm Fall and Torn Sky will be available in paperback. But as far as I know, my publisher doesn't have plans for that at this time. If you have a smartphone, you can download the Kindle app for free. Maybe that's an option to continue reading the series?
Tracy Banghart Alloy hasn't given me the official date yet, but I should know soon and will share as soon as I get the go-ahead. It'll be sometime this summer. :-)
Tracy Banghart Keep writing! Everyone's journey to publication is different, and you can't know what yours will look like. The only way to guarantee failure to is stop trying. Never stop trying!
Tracy Banghart Hi Annie, thanks for the question! I'm so glad you're enjoying the series. :-) I pronounce it MEE-lek. Hope that helps! Fun fact: the name is of Russian origin.
