Nancy Smith After having read every book by both authors, I just finished the newest by Karin Slaughter and the newest by Louise Penny. Really good books.
Nancy Smith Nancy Smith likes to write environmental science fiction about the tipping point. The tipping point is when humans so damage their environment, it's beyond the point of repair. Climate change, in these books is about the stupid, thoughtless, and money-grubbing things people choose to do that ultimately make our world unlivable. The Universal Vaccine is about virus and overpopulation and the limits people, especially people with resources, will go to come out on top. While writing The Slow Kill, Austin, Texas was in severe to exceptional drought. While this did inspire a dystopian near-future setting, the theme of this book is about isolation, a subject that has intrigued me for years. This book examines barriers at the individual, family and community level.
