For me, a book idea is like having a song stuck in my head. Writing it gets the words into an actual thought and I love reading, and that applies to my own writing as well. When I'm finally happy with my book I love reading it! Kind of like when you make yourself apple pie, it's so much work but so yummy!

Don't stop! Keep something nearby you to write anytime inspiration hits. I keep my phone by my bed because I can see the screen in the middle of the night

I do something else like listen to music, watch a TV show like ghost asylum that is involving without requiring too much effort, and sometimes eat chocolate

I've always loved Nancy Drew, but certain things bothered me.. Little plot holes or the lack of a timeline, things like that. Plus my husband kept picking that Nancy Drew is only for kids. So I thought I'd write a mystery for grown ups in the same style
