Hi Charlyne,
Thank you! I am working on it; it's just that I'm a bit stuck at the moment. I was hoping to have it done by February, but we shall see. Hopefully, miracles still happen, or else one can always hope for lightning to strike.

I want to read the Six of Crows series by Leigh Bardugo. It is a genre I don't usually read, but perhaps it's time to dip my toe.

I am currently working on the next book in the series.

From one aspiring writer to another - just start. That's it; even if it is really bad and nothing more than bullet points on a piece of paper - just start. For tonight you'll go to bed, and you will sleep, but your brain will not forget, and pretty soon your bullet points will turn into barely coherent paragraphs, from there, things will grow.

I don't sweat it; I hit blocks with many things, not just writing. But so far, the best cure is to reach for one of my favorite authors and get lost in a good book.

Creating something that somebody else will enjoy. Giving the reader a moment away, like a little vacation, in a different world.

I've always loved writing, and I have a "million" stories floating in my head and almost an equal amount of unfinished stories saved on my computer. It was a matter of sitting down, focusing on the one that screams the loudest, and finishing it. I guess the inspiration was always there; I was just waiting for the right time in my life to do it ... (if that makes any sense.)

I came across Van Riebeeck’s journal. Although widely published, it’s not exactly something people read for fun. After that, I started reading South African history books with particular attention to the early days of the Dutch settlement. I was surprised that the journey from Texel to the Cape is nothing more than a one-liner. But after reading the journal, I discovered the intensity of that journey. Many of the significant events in my book are true, and they came from the journal. It provided most of the characters, and my plotline was as true to the real events as possible.
