Don't give up! Keep pushing. It's a slow start for EVERYONE. You aren't going to write a book that instantly becomes a best seller. You have to put in the time, effort, and a LOT of work. Find mentors who specialize in your genre. Most authors are willing to help each other out, offer support, advice, and constructive criticism so you can grow and continue to do better. Find your tribe, seek out their help, and listen to them! Also, if you don't already have it, grow thick skin. Even world famous, best selling authors get bad reviews or have internet trolls that go after them. So don't take anything too personally. Constructive criticism and advice can be beneficial. But only if it's helping you. Ignore the haters. You're too busy living your dream to hear them anyway.

I find inspiration. I refuse to be locked behind a computer for a certain number of hours just because I want to get so much writing done by a certain date. If I'm blocked, I walk away. We live near a vacation destination, so it's easy to go "travel" for a day. I go take care of my farm animals and they help me relax so things can get untangled inside my head. I drag my husband out for a romantic date. I even scroll through reddit. Above all else, I find something to make me laugh. Anything to help me relax and get juices flowing.

After being caught in a mass layoff, I had more time than I knew what to do with. So I decided it was time to follow my dreams and put my stories to paper to share with the world.

I left an abusive marriage with 2 kids in tow. It took a lot of strength to overcome the internal scars and see the beauty inside myself again. I'm far from the only woman who has gone through this. I felt that reading a book people could relate to could be impactful. While overcoming that kind of trauma is hard, it is also beautiful and inspiring. Finding a man who is willing to wait while you finish healing, who will support you along the way, there is nothing better. So, I took the base of a woman fleeing her abusive past and moving on, combined it with a sexy hero who helps her along the way, and mixed in some humor (some of which was inspired by things my own kids have done over the years) some spice, some action/drama, and tied it all up in a HEA bow.
