There are so many fictional book worlds I would love to explore. At first blush, it's difficult to narrow it down to one. But if I'm honest with myself, from childhood, Robin Hood was the story I returned to again and again. I'd fantasize about venturing into Sherwood forest, living in the hidden wooden realm with Robin and his merry band. I'd wish to be accepted by merit of my own strengths and taken along on rousing adventures to help those less fortunate. Though, they'd probably frown on me for never wanting to steal to accomplish those means.

Show yourself grace. There are so many rules and expectations in our chosen field. These tend to put pressure on us to hold to lofty standards. If you chase after each one, you’ll burn out. Understand that writing is a process of discovery as well as learning. You will constantly grow and change as a writer. Invest in the journey: it matters more than the end result.

The privilege of not only reading an adventure but getting to write one. I love creating a world that provides that adventurous escape for my readers. A place they can explore, invest in, and discover. Characters they can root for, relate to, and find encouragement through.

Praise and worship music is usually my go-to response to writer's block. Listening to and singing along with inspirational songs helps bring my focus back, not only to my writing but to God, who impresses on me the ministry of my writing.

My current WIPs (works in progress) are books 5 and 6 in the Tale of the Clans series.

That's a fun one. Man of Sorrows is a prequel to the Tale of the Clans series. Originally, I began the story back in 2008 in an attempt to better acquaint myself with some of the secondary characters in my series. While researching for the book, I came across an old Irish account of a nun who left her holy orders to marry a man. She was later pressed by the church to abandon her husband and return to the abbey. Her husband followed her the entire journey, pleading with her to stay with him, but she denied him, citing that she committed adultery against God by breaking her vows and taking on an earthly husband.
I found the story tragic and it sparked in me a desire to put my own twist on a similar tale, which eventually became the foundational plot for Man of Sorrows. However, I had to lay the story aside in 2009 because of illness during pregnancy. I didn't pick the story back up again until 2019 when my publisher requested I write a prequel novella to Tale of the Clans.
