If I feel like I'm stuck on a scene or just in general, I walk away and do something different for a while. Maybe for a day or several; it depends on how badly I'm struggling. I'll read a book, go for a drive, or perhaps take in a movie. Anything that takes my mind off of writing usually helps clear my head.

Write your first draft for yourself. The second draft is for the reader and should be polished up for them. I admit this is secondhand advice, but Stephen King does give great advice to aspiring writers. In fact, I highly recommend reading his book, "On Writing." I wish I had as I was writing my first novel.
Also, get a literary agent to find the best publisher for your book. I might have saved a lot of publishing costs had I done the same.

I am working on the sequel to "The Raven Chronicles: Magic Reborn." It's going to be a longer novel, but I'm not sure how long at this time.

Reading, watching fantasy-type shows, and audiobooks, all inspire me. Also, going on scenic drives inspire me as well.

My main character, Raven, was loosely inspired by the character Mara Jade from Timothy Zahn's "Heir to the Empire." I added a good amount of her attitude to her character. I then placed her in a medieval fantasy setting and began writing the story.
