Mallory Wanless Honestly, it happens randomly. A line in a show or song might send my mind wandering down a path, figuring out who might be saying it, to whom are they speaking, what is the context surrounding the conversation. Or an image will pop up in my mind (scenery or just a vibe/feeling) and I start wondering what the story behind it might be.
Mallory Wanless Just keep writing. Especially when you're drafting a new story, just write all the words. They won't all be gold, but in those beginning stages, your primary job is to get words on the page. You can sort through them later.
Mallory Wanless Currently working on the sequel to Storm and Flame so my readers won't be too enraged when they get to the end of that one 😅
Mallory Wanless My book was actually inspired by a random picture of a mythological creature on Pinterest. I saw this electric weasel and I thought "hm, he looks like an interesting character. What would his story be like?" Then I started speculating about his life, his world, his place in it and in a matter of days I had designed an entire magical world with enchantresses, familiars, and a school for magic.
