I wasn't going to write a sequel for Rock Bottom, Tennessee but readers begged for it. They want to know what happened to Ruby after her conviction. It is coming out at the end of February.

I put myself in the genre and setting as much as possible. For Rock Bottom, Tennessee, I wrote on my mother's desk which had been her father's. He influenced one of my main characters. I also play Bluegrass (the book's setting is in Appalachia). Because my mother was the best storyteller about her family, I keep a photo of her close by. She is my inspiration.

I retraced my father's steps on the front line of WWII in Europe. He died when I was 25 and I knew next to nothing about his experience in the war. I have researched and answered that question and have walked in his footsteps. It will be a memoir about my father, what his WWII experience was like and my experience in walking where he fought.

I heard stories of her when I was growing up as she was disowned by her parents for marrying a man they disapproved of. After doing family research, It appears she married a man who was already married. She came from what appeared to be a very upstanding family and always wondered why she would go off with this man. He didn't seem to have money or was unbelievably handsome. I did what you did - took my questions and made it into a novel. Another author who did this (based on her grandfather, is Linda Joyce Stekfo. Her novel is Secrets in the Smoke.
