M.B. Strang I am currently working on a shorter piece featuring my characters Sir Kai, Olive, and Scritch.
M.B. Strang I'll share what my friend Kerr told me: write! Like so many other things, the more you write, the better you get. Stop talking about your idea and actually write it down. Discover the methods that work for you. What helps other writers might not help you. Find your own style. Also, use a thesaurus!
M.B. Strang The best thing about being a writer is getting to share my ideas. All of these characters in my head get to live on the page, where they have a chance to inform and inspire others. Another great thing about being a writer is not having to commute to work!
M.B. Strang I had a professor who said that writer's block is just refusal to write, but I always thought that was nonsense. Writer's block is not a stubborn refusal to write, but it can stem from a fear of being criticized. I recently read a piece in which the writer said that you have to really love writing and not see it as a chore. I found that to be helpful advice and now I look forward to writing. Also, I can't write if I'm stressed, so I do what I can to reduce stress, which is always easier said than done.
M.B. Strang Outside, a blizzard rages. Inside, we are out of coffee.
M.B. Strang I would go to Pangondra, the world I created, of course. Most authors would want to live in their own worlds, and in a sense, we do.
M.B. Strang In 2018, I found out that I have a sister that I didn't know about!
