Geoffreyjen Edwards The book I am working on right now, Apprentice: The First Book of Eco, focuses on a pair of sisters on a planet inhabited by sessile (motionless) aliens. One of the sisters has schizophrenia. I have known several people with this illness, and I spent time in a research institute dedicated to studying such things. I also believe that mental illness is often mishandled - overly romanticized, misunderstood or stereotyped, and so on. I hope my treatment of the subjects honours those with the condition.
Geoffreyjen Edwards Sorry, I've never experienced it. I keep half expecting it to happen, but the words still keep tumbling out.
Geoffreyjen Edwards I never get bored. I do get lonely some of the time, but my characters, to a great extent, keep me company. And the company of fellow writers is awesome.
Geoffreyjen Edwards Write, write, write. I have been writing intensely for over ten years, and my first novel has just been published. It takes its own sweet time to get the work done, find someone interested in putting it out there (or finding the time to do it yourself), and then gain readers. There are no shortcuts. They say it takes 10000 hours. I think that's about right.
Geoffreyjen Edwards Plenum is the first book in a series of (yes) 15 books - 5 trilogies in essence. The second volume, Messioph: The First Book of Ido is in the hands of the publisher. The third volume, Pinnacle: The First Book of Eng, I have just finished and it is going to my editor. So now I am working on the fourth book of the series, called Apprentice: The First Book of Eco.
Geoffreyjen Edwards Writing just seems to flow out of me. It was a like a tap - once tuned on, it couldn't be turned off again. That said, lots of things do inspire me. I think the world is in a critical place, and certain things need to be said. I try to listen to those voices, to what they are clamouring to say, and that is often what I end up writing about.
