N. MacCameron Writer's block has to do with me, not the writing. It is a cry for help from my physical, mental, or spiritual side.
The unicorn servant needs rest, water and food too!
Grief is my most common block. People die around me and the stories take a vacation.
I deal with it by caring for myself, immersing myself in beautiful stories, and trusting that my voice will be heard in good time. I trust that the experience I am going through will polish me and feed me greater stories, and better ability to convey them to you with my words.
N. MacCameron Make new friends but keep the old,
One is silver and the other gold.

I've never decided who is the silver and who is the gold. I love meeting new people who love the same things I love and who engage with my stories.
I love the dedicated people who have known Leoshine and my stories from the beginning and light my fire when I am burning low.
As a writer, I have twice as many friends as non-writers. I have 100% more enemies too because of the population in my head!
The way I write is like freefall. I put my pen to the paper and see what comes out. I love the feeling when I'm reading each word as the ink is still fresh and saying, Wow! No kidding? I'd never have thought of that!
N. MacCameron Get a community. Grow your community. Nurture your community.
Others are needed to fuel your dream. They carry you when you fall and recommend you to others who like similar reads. (Hey Goodreads!)
Loving others is the first thing a writer must do. Sure, there are lots of curmudgeonly, loner -type writers who shun community.
Here's a secret. Every writer is a hermit at heart. We just want to write. In fact, the stories we have in our heads demand so much attention there is rarely energy to engage with real humans.
However, dear aspiring writer, go out there. Save some energy for your community. It's ok, the characters and plots will be there when you get back!
N. MacCameron Leoshine, Princess Quarry Book Two is in the editing stages.
While I wait, I am dreaming of a graphic novel based on Shua, the one armed Outlyer (Oxikobh) youth who is saved by Leoshine.
He devotes his life to her because he recognizes her rightful place as Myxolidia's Queen. She, in turn, needs a little saving of her own.
Shua is like a superhero. He has a human side that gets him in trouble and causes devastation for others. He also has much to learn about his superpowers. He has a major impact on what eventually happens to Leoshine and this graphic novel would be a way to fill in his life story that won't fit into the main story.
I am also working on Leoshine, Princess Oracle's audiobook.
On the day I started recording (I am an audiobook narrator for other people too!) the utility company began installing fibreoptic cable in my neighbourhood. That took 6 months!
On the day they stopped work I got Covid which affected my voice and nasal resonance. Man! This is frustrating, but it is a priority for the new year.
I am also working on flash fiction on Medium https://nmaccameron.medium.com/ and @ https://www.scifishorts.co/
N. MacCameron My readers inspire me to write! I want to give you the most fantastic story I can. I recognize the responsibility of having a writer gifting. Stories occur to me. Characters talk to me and create situations in my head that I must carry to my readers.
I'm like the servant in charge of beautiful unicorns. I must bring them the magic water they need to live. I must feed them the magic food that makes them happy.
In my bio I claim that everything I touch turns to art. Writing is one way that the normal, mundane things around me turn into plots and characters. They have messages and teachings for you, dear reader. They have jokes to share and tears to spill with you.
I am inspired by your need for amazing stories that in turn inspire you to live well, love out loud, and be the treasure that you were meant to be.
N. MacCameron Leoshine, Princess Quarry is going to be launched in March 2023. This is book two and the idea came from book one! (call me a genius!)
Book one sets the stage with three interesting characters and a collapsing environment.
Leoshine was her father's favourite and he keeps her artificially young in order to preserve her from some ugly coming of age rituals. He knows that Avram is coming.
Avram doesn't want a slave, but he knows about the ugly rituals. To keep Leoshine safe, he keeps her close and watches how she reacts during the meetings he has with her people. He can tell if they are lying to him just by the tilt of her eyebrows.
Resham was born in Leoshine's world, kidnapped and indoctrinated into Avram's world and now he's back with Avram to help restore his home world to its former glory.
Book Two opens the day after Leoshine escapes Avram's custody. Her brother inspires a rebellion and Leoshine has to decide whether he is the best leader, or is there some merit in Avram's mission? Everyone uses her as a pawn to promote their own power.
Whoever wins Leoshine's loyalty wins the kingdom.
