I've always been fascinated with time and space. I love the thought of things like parallel lives, time travel, ancestral memories and places and objects retaining memories. In Tangled Threads, I look at the idea that time isn't just one single thread, but more like the warp threads in a loom, with the people woven as the weft. Call it Caroline's Theory of The Multiverse! And so this book and the two that follow, take that and look one woman's life and loves set against that background.

I don't really need to look for inspiration, my head is so full of ideas and wonderings, some that I've had for years that only now are getting to have their time in the sunshine. However, I do find inspiration from other authors, even those in different genres to my own. I love reading well-crafted books and it inspires me to persevere, and to continue to hone my craft.

I'd love to jump into Jojo Moyes books and hang out with Louisa Clarke. She's delightful, and there'd never be a dull moment with Lou around.

I make myself sit and write something. I'm not one to just free write from prompts so I tend to move on to another scene if one is giving me trouble. So often that resolves whatever problem I've had and it feels good to be doing something productive, even if wasn't what your first choice.

I get to spend time with my favourite people - my characters. I know it sounds a bit like hanging out with imaginary friends, but it makes me happy.

Never stop learning, but don't let that stop you writing. It's easy to put off doing the writing thinking there's more you need to know first. You learn on the job, so go to it.

I'm juggling loads at the moment - with Tangled Threads ready for launch on March 4th, while I'm on my second pass through the second book, Tangled Loves and scoping out book 3, Tangled Lives. But my previous career as a teacher taught me how to keep lots of balls in the air.
