The Lord gave me a vision in September of 2020 to create inspirational poetry. With that being said, this is where my first poem, "Lord, Remember Me", came into fruition. Shortly after, I wrote two more poems, "The Boy Who Never Frowns" and 'Friends as These" that obtained the same message within. My original plan was to submit these poems to different magazines for publication, in which I did submit them to Rattle, Rust and Moth, and Barren, who all declined. However, I decided not to give up and continued to write as I wanted my work to speak abundant life, encouragement, and positivity to others. Therefore, a little over a year later, "Peace in the Midst of the Storm" became my very first book of inspirational poetry. The Lord showed me that this body of work is bigger than myself and he saw fit within me to create a significant piece that encourages others to live life on purpose.

My advice would be to never lose sight on your overall purpose. Writing is a gift that can sometimes be tedious but it is such a rewarding journey. Nothing is sweeter than witnessing your thoughts and ideas being published to not only to establish your vision but also for exciting readers to see what you're made of. Therefore, remember your passion, remain focused, and refrain from giving up.

I wholeheartedly believe that the best thing about being a writer is utilizing my voice for the common good. My specific genre is poetry and I choose to embrace spirituality and inspiration within my work, which I am very grateful for. Therefore, it's beautiful to hear and know that my words encourage and uplift others to be remedied from the challenges and mistakes that attempt to keep them bound. For me, if my work is enough to touch one person, it is completely worth it.
