Kevin Bryant So, I'm a bit of a fantasy nerd, so it would have to be a fantasy setting. Of course, I'd love to head off to Hogwarts for school. Unfortunately, I'm stuck being a muggle. I would love to be a Warder in the Wheel of Time series too. I grew up playing Dungeons and Dragons with my family and friends (way before Stranger Things made it cool), so any setting with magic and swords I'm game for. As for what I would do, well I'm 5'6", so I'd probably put on a suit of armor, fall to the floor under its weight, and request to be beamed back to the real world. I'd probably be a much better wizard than fighter because of that. J.K. Rowling's world it is!
Kevin Bryant After Spygate (when the New England Patriots were caught recording signals) I wanted to know how much spying goes on in professional football and I couldn't find an answer. So I wrote Spies on the Sidelines: The High-Stakes World of NFL Espionage to find the answer and share it with my readers.
Kevin Bryant Aspire to do something else (just kidding, kind of). I would say plan for writing to be a hobby, stick at it like it's a job, and only write if you love it. On average there is very little money in writing, so if it's not fun do something else. If you can't imagine life without writing, keep at it. Also, be persistent and just keep working and reworking what you write. Sometimes it takes 20 or 30 rewrites to get a sentence just how you want it. Don't worry about cranking out tons of books. Do one right.
Kevin Bryant Well, if you're a day dreamer like me you have all these ideas floating around in your head. Writing lets me share those ideas and express myself in a creative format.
Kevin Bryant I find when I write fiction writer's block is a very real thing, but with nonfiction not so much (at least for me). So, I've leaned towards nonfiction (perhaps because of that), although I love the creative process of writing fiction.
Kevin Bryant I have this clothes dryer that I swear eats about a sock per load. So, I'd really like to write about the small magical creatures that steal those. For real though, I was a special agent so I have some stories. Unfortunately, I'd have to kill you before I told you and not in that order.
Kevin Bryant I'm currently reading Twilight (book 1 in French) by Stephanie Meyers, the Wheel of Time Book 2 by Robert Jordan, and No Man's Land by David Baldacci. I tend to read multiple books at once and try to read at least a few hours in French every week. I have quite a few books underneath my night stand waiting to be read after that including the massive book 4 of the Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson (one of my favorite authors) and Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir.
