I usually have two or three books in the research phase and have a few pages written on two of them. Since this is nonfiction, I am working with ideas I am interested in exploring in depth.

I just start writing - anything. No criteria - neither priority nor structure. I have a pile of thoughts or outlines or research; I pick one and start writing. What I find is that kick-starts the creative process and I soon move to writing about something that fits the needs of the book.
