Penny Jessup Every story has already been told but in the words of Sondheim (who recently passed so sadly) they've not been told by you. Your words have worth and wisdom and uniqueness because they're yours, no one else could tell the story you're going to tell. So don't worry if your vision isn't new (let others make that decision, they usually do) just write.
Penny Jessup The Alpha's Son book 2!!!
Penny Jessup My writer's block doesn't come in the form of a lack of ideas or even words. But more so in a complete avoidance of writing, lots of procrastination, and days/weeks/months of putting off. For me sitting down to write is the biggest issues. Once I've sat myself down and told myself to write I'm usually good to go, for a while at least. Setting specific times to write really helps and protecting that time. I'm also a sucker for a pastry and (even though it might not be the healthiest option) I'll reward myself with a sweet treat after I've done some writing, hehe.
Penny Jessup Thank you for the question. I was actually working as a freelancer for an app that published a lot of paranormal werewolf romances and I noticed three things. The first that the hierarchical structure of the pack and the societies around the pack (specifically rogues and how they're ostracised) were really interesting. Secondly, I noticed a lot of the stories dealt with protagonists who felt like outsiders, which I thought would translate into the queer space really nicely. And finally the third thing I noticed was there was not a lot of queer representation. Because I was already writing a lot of queer (specifically gay m/m) YA fiction I thought this would be a great sub-genre to explore. And I'm so happy that I did because writing this book has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life and one that I hope to continue long into the future.
