Kat Ryan I take a break and try to go do something out. It helps me to listen the music that reminds me of the characters or to look at images for inspiration. Also, I need to get outside. That helps me brainstorm and get ideas to get past the writer's block.
Kat Ryan Hmm, I think my answer is two part. I love seeing the story in my head actually make it to the page. Then, now that my first book is out, I love hearing from readers who love my characters as much as I do.
Kat Ryan Read. Read a lot of books to find out what you want to write. Then lock up that inner editor in your head and let your fingers fly across the keyboard.
Kat Ryan I'm currently wrapping up the publishing of my first four books. I've written them over the past three years and I'm releasing them in the span of two months. Then I'm taking a break while I write book five which will hopefully be out in summer of 2022.
Kat Ryan I love writing. Editing and the business side of writing, not so much. I find inspiration by creating Pinterest boards and playlists for each book. Then, for weeks before I begin, I think about my characters on my daily run. I'm getting ready to write book five in my Highland Falls series and I'm ready to get started.
Kat Ryan Coming Home is my first full-length contemporary romance. As a middle school teacher, I've written a lot in the world of education. However, in 2018 I was getting burnt out. A friend suggested that I try writing fiction instead of nonfiction. I took the advice I give my students and take inspiration from the world around me. I used my small town as inspiration for the town of Highland Falls. I love the trope 'brothers best friend', so I built off of that. And I'm obsessed with books, so I made the heroine a librarian.
