Greg Wendleton That might be a horror story in and off itself! I am not a fan of the horror genre. Ever since I saw The Exorcist in college, I've been reluctant to visit that genre. Sorry.
Greg Wendleton The World Played Chess by Robert Duggoni and Turning The Storm by Lee Jackson
Greg Wendleton The story behind meeting my wife for the very first time was pretty funny, but it led to some twists that sent me spiraling into a pretty dark place when I was a sophomore in college. Digging out of that hole, and then the events that finally led us back together after thirty-five years would make for quite a mystery. But it is so very private, that won't happen.
Greg Wendleton I usually take a break outside with my labradoodle, Chief, or we go for a walk. I know the day will come, but so far, I haven't had a true writer's block. I run into roadblocks and have to detour, but it has all worked out to this point.
Greg Wendleton As a self-published author, at least at this point, I can write what I want and publish it when I want. I don't have a boss, an editor or a publisher pushing me, changing my work or delaying my timeline.
As a retired person, it's total freedom. Yes, I'd like to make some money writing and selling books, but it's not do or die, in my case. It's tough breaking through, which is why Goodreads and Amazon (Kindle Direct Publishing) are so important for self-published writers. We have an outlet to showcase our work.
Greg Wendleton Start writing! I think everyone has their own style, so don't feel like you have to conform to a specific format. Personally, I have a hard time creating an outline and then following it. I do better formulating a synopsis and then writing my story as the thoughts flow from my warped mind to my flying fingers.
Find a genre that you are interested in, create a key character or two and start filling in the spaces in between.
Greg Wendleton I'm currently working on three projects within the Garret Cooper Series. Book three, "Judgement" is in late stages of editing by my gracious and loving wife, Jan, who still works full time. As she proofreads and edits, I make corrections and do rewrites.
Additionally, I am working on books four and five in the series. I don't want to get too far ahead of myself and spoil books you may not have read, so let's just say I've taken some very interesting turns going down this road.
Greg Wendleton Well, in general I need an outlet after retiring from a very active sales career. On a daily basis I make sure that I write something, at least Monday through Friday. My minds is full of ideas that I haven't been able to exhaust yet. I also take my loyal pup, Chief on several walks each week and I work out ideas, plots, twists and turns as we amble along.
Greg Wendleton Each new book I have started has been inspired by the events in the previous book. The series was inspired by the COVID pandemic, the new vaccine and ironically, the freak snow storm in San Antonio, Texas where my best friend, Steve Cooper lives. Inspiration can come from the strangest places!
