We all possess mysteries in our own lives ... 'untold stories' ... deeply hidden within our psyche ... of our fear, anger, hate, destroyed relationships, unrequited love, and need for revenge ... of the emotional and physical abuses that we have either suffered, or ashamedly imposed on others ... the life changing slapping sting of things that people have said to us ... or the suppressed shame of something that has slipped off the end of our own tongue ... without first going through the filter of our humanity ... and can never be taken back ...
The 'untold stories' that we would never, never, never tell ... and yet we subconsciously artfully conceal within the metaphors we share every day ... over and over again ... to anyone who will listen ... perhaps wanting someone to 'really' hear and understand us ... or perhaps until one day, we come to 'really' hear ourselves ...
Which makes one wonder ... if not in a future book ...? Do some of those personal 'untold stories' already exist within the plot of LZ Judas Goat ...? And ... if they do ... am I really prepared to look them in the eye ...?

(view spoiler)[ Forty odd years ago, a 'Counselor' suggested that writing short stories and/or keeping a journal would help me address some personal 'issues' related to The Vietnam War and the way Vietnam Veterans were being socially abused and ostracized in the years during and even long after The War ended.
To him ... the subject matter wasn't all that important ... it could be true events, nightmares, things that I worry about, even something experienced by another ... stories or events that involved emotion ... love, hate, guilt, fear, trust, betrayal, comradeship ... whatever ... or just plain made-up BS for that matter. Because, he was certain that he would discover 'my story' hidden in there somewhere ... and then we could address the 'real' problem.
So ... where did I get the original idea for LZ Judas Goat ...? From re-reading those old documents about seven years ago ... but now from the perspective of many decades ... finally beginning to 'hear myself' for the very first time ... and realizing that there really was a connective thread ... and possibly even a novel.
Then again ... I harbor no illusions that if a shrink ever reads this book ... she will quickly discover that it's just an extension of the old journal I'd set aside all those years ago. And that deep within the metaphors of LZ Judas Goat ... The Author is still emotionally unable to 'not' tell his story ... (hide spoiler)]
