My education is film history and screenwriting. During one of my classes, we discussed not only the concept of "slow cinema" but the historical relation between Westerns and an idealized America. I wanted to write a book that not only indulged my love of detail and history, but one that represented so many of those faces that have been routinely excluded from other western media.
