The real question is: Which part of The Gouge did I write loosely based on something I experienced in my own life? If you grew up with me you know. But for legal reasons, I'm going to leave the answer a mystery. You're welcome to guess. (To be clear, I didn't kill anyone.)

If I'm a good ways into writing a book when I get stumped, I find it helpful to go back and read over what I've already written. It can refresh some of the ideas that I had when I started, and maybe even create some new ones.

Write everyday. Even if it's just a few sentences, or if it's a few chapters--Even if you're most likely going to erase it all and start over tomorrow--try to write every day. Exercise that muscle daily.

I'm currently writing my next book. Like The Gouge, it will be a suspense/thriller. The working title is: The Blue Hole.
