Hmmm.. good question. Perhaps the mystery would be a study in 'nature versus nurture'. How did I turn out so creative when both my parents were scientists, neither having any respect for creativity?

My book is the story of my great grandmother, who was a pioneering lawyer in British India. But the family's memories of her are all negative. I researched her story and found that she had endured huge trauma but had still achieved her goal. So, I wanted to set the record straight and make sure people remember her for the right reasons. Just sit down and write whatever comes into your head. Don't wait for inspiration or ideas, they will come as you write. Write for yourself, edit it for others. Bernie

I found that sitting down to write, even if I had no ideas/inspiration etc, made a big difference. Ideas just came to me as I wrote. I thought that once I read the writing back, it would be awful as I hadn't had the idea in advance. But this wasn't the case. They were often the best ideas!
