R.S. Whitfield Escapism. Being able to block the world out and write your own. It’s also wonderful and a bit surreal when someone reads your work and loves it.
R.S. Whitfield The book I am currently working is a sequel to “The Dark Places” so I had it very roughly planned from the get go. I wanted to explore a different motivation for murder in this book where maybe the bad guy isn’t really a bad person.
R.S. Whitfield Actually a lot of things inspire me. Reading is the obvious first, when you read an amazing book it gets the creative juices flowing, but also music. I always have music on when I’m writing however it’s normally classical so I can focus on my words instead of singing along. I like to be in quiet places, wind, rain and atmosphere help as well. I do a lot of online research and find that visual boards with pictures and quotes keep me focused.
R.S. Whitfield I am currently a quarter of the way through book two in what I’m hoping will be a three book series. Book 2 is a continuation from my debut novel
“The Dark Places”
R.S. Whitfield Tough one. I don’t so much get writers block I more so feel overwhelmed with how much I want to say and the story ahead if that makes sense. I find putting all the scenes for the whole book on sticky notes and just going one sticky note at a time helps. If I’m really stuck for where to go, I research. That always prompts me and gives me direction.
R.S. Whitfield It’s actually heading into Winter in Australia ! I am aiming to read the following in between writing book 2.
My Dark Vanessa
Verity
Daisy Jones and the six (very outside my normal genre)
