L.C. Rooney Oddly (or maybe not), I wake up with a lot of my story ideas, from short stories and full-length novels to snippets of dialogue I have no idea what to do with (sometimes by characters I've not yet met during my waking hours). On my nightstand you will always find a notebook, pen, and book light so I can write down every bit of it immediately, regardless of the hour.
L.C. Rooney The second book in The Riley Russell Mystery Series is officially underway. I'm hoping to have the first draft done by mid-June. Then I'm going to let it "sleep" while I visit out-of-state family and friends. When I return I'll be ready to polish it and send it off for editing. The goal is to publish in time for a Christmas release.
L.C. Rooney Never hesitate to seek out wisdom from those who've gone (successfully) before you. Also never hesitate to disregard that which does not work for you. Your writing journey is your writing journey. Your voice is your voice. Your story is your story. You'll know when it's right.
L.C. Rooney The best thing about being a writer is when you're struck by that "Eureka!" moment, when all the missing pieces mysteriously appear, seemingly out of nowhere, and you know--you just KNOW--it's what you've been struggling with for what has seemed an eternity. The second best thing? Sleeping in when you want, going to bed when you want, not being on anyone else's schedule but your own...and that darn muse, who, admittedly, can be a bit of a tyrant at times. 😉
