I go on vacation and completely disconnect from all electronic and other input sources - i.e. a ship in the middle of the south pacific with no internet connection helps. I bring my laptop to write - or the ipad or whatever works. But be disconnected. When you have nothing else you CAN do, it's a good opportunity to reflect and write.

Start.
I considered writing for many years but never started. Finally, using notes in my iPhone, I started writing an outline for what could potentially one day maybe be a book. That process encouraged me to keep moving forward. Albeit slowly, but eventually I made it happen.

Street cred ;-).
When you are a published author (self or otherwise) you are given inherent confidence and trust otherwise not available to just being a writer. When I speak to those about my topic, they listen more intently and are more interested in actually using the advise.

Structure. The old adage of eating an elephant one bite at a time plays here. Organize your thoughts. Plan out the end result. Instead of writing, work on the design, work on the outline, work on the format, work on the marketing. There's a lot to writing and getting your mind moving in any direction is better than no direction. What's your natural strength? See if you can leverage that to get traction and then move toward content. Break it down and write short chunks - i.e. don't write chapter 1 - write about the first topic / intro that you want to come across.
