Reggie Hudson Inspiration is tough.
I remember hearing an interview with film maker Robert Rodriguez when he was asked about inspiration and his answer alway stuck with me. To paraphrase, so many of us wait around for the lightning of inspiration to strike. I would rather go out and create the lightning, work every day to be my own inspiration.
Sure, there are some days where I don't feel like writing or when I feel the ideas will never come, but those are the days I feel I must stick with it. Put something on a page even if it's deleted in twenty-four or forty-eight hours.
Ideas will come from the most unexpected places, I just find I'm more willing to accept them, more open to grasp onto the oddball idea if I've done the work of laying fertile ground.
Reggie Hudson I've always loved haunted house stories. The more gothic, the better. The sprawling expanses of Hill House, the hidden dimensions spreading before us as we made our way through House of Leaves. So, I let my mind wander through the idea of what it would mean to have a haunting in a space where you never lost sight of the entire expanse. Shrink the happenings down to around 400 square feet. Even more importantly, I began asking about the kind of person who would stay in such a small space when they clearly weren't wanted.
