I am a neuroscientists with lots of fancy degrees including a PhD. Whenever I tell people that, they always gesture that I am very intelligent, and go on to explain that 'they could never understand neuroscience and the brain'.
This, is simply not true. Science is for everyone, and so I wanted to ask people, "what have you always wanted to know?" Questions about the brain were submitted through a social media campaign and I set about answering them in a fun and simple way so that everyone can learn and enjoy, regardless of scientific background.

I am currently working on a popular science book, explaining how the brain works, in a fun and simple way. Anybody can read it, regardless of your background in science. 'A Million Things To Ask A Neuroscientist' answers all the questions that people have asked me about the brain.
I am also writing a fiction novel, about a man who ventures through the cosmos in the afterlife, to discover the connecting forces of the universe, and the meaning of life. It is sort of Dante's Devine Comedy through space.

For me, I really see it as a creative outlet. I have the opportunity to write however I want, to talk about any topic, and to spark a discussion in whatever I find the most interesting. Life, in general, is based heavily on routine, and normally nothing much happens out of the ordinary. When I write, I can really let my creative juices flow, and it is a great feeling when you look back on the page and realise what you have done. Even if nobody ever gets to see it, I still enjoy that.

As I grabbed the door handle to leave the room I realised the handle was fake, like paper, and the walls were paper, everywhere I looked, it was all pretend. Was this a dream, had it always been this way, where was I?
