Vicki Lännerholm The process of writing. The ideas are endless but it's the processing of them that intrigues me. It's like getting handed a lump of clay and poking at it until it takes shape and introduces itself to me. Although my published works are non-fiction, I do spend time writing short-stories of fiction. Perhaps I will release them at some point as well. My inspiration comes from nostalgia, mystery, and life experiences, mine and others.

My non-fiction work continues to be inspired by problem-solving the human condition beyond pathology. Too much of mental health information today is simply hype, labels, checklists, and scores. In most cases I find that people need understanding, not a diagnosis. As a Reality Therapist I'm inspired by an internal passion to deliver more useful and less complex solutions and information.
Vicki Lännerholm My last three books are a culmination of work with clients over the years. The various questions they ask and what works and what doesn't to help them make sense of their experiences and gain a new perspective to move forward. While there are various resources and workbooks relative to mental health all of them are diagnostically focused but there is a lot we experience in life that is difficult or confusing that has nothing to do with mental illness. Most other books contain very little on the basics of the human condition. Lastly, in all sessions I found clients trying to take notes and capture the revelations they were having rather than being fully present. These workbooks provide a way to avoid that and leverage the most important aspects of the therapeutic process to impact their inner dialogue.
For those who have not been in counseling or who have had bad experiences, these books provide insights to re-calibrate and set a new course towards personal growth and understanding.
Vicki Lännerholm Besides resolving heartbreak... I'm currently working on the second book in the Dialogue Series. In the first book I disclose some of my mind-conversations crossing forty years, in this next book it's all about the client's dialogue from real counseling conversations crossing all my years of work. I share the most common experiences; what worked, what didn't, and invite the reader to be a part of the process of navigating life one word at a time... one week at a time.

Added note: This book is now in publication "your inner dialogue".
Vicki Lännerholm That can depend on what you compare it to but the first thing that comes to mind is the freedom to be me and leave something in this world that says "I was here and I had something to say".

The seven year old me says "fulfilling my dreams and doing what I love"...
Vicki Lännerholm Reconnect with what you are passionate about.
Vicki Lännerholm If you want to be a writer, you must write. Schedule it in a little each day and be ready for a journey of discovery. "An hour a day" as Liz Gilbert once said.
