Sorry for the delay in responding to your question.
After finishing my third book I decided to rewrite my first book. There is a lot i have learned in the last four years of writing and i want to incorporate the new techniques and insights i have learned into it. I suspect it will be two books when i am done. It will be on Amazon, probably next year.

The best advice I got from Patterson, Gaiman, Brown, and others is that your first draft will stink. That is okay, don't be discouraged. It is the editing process that will greatly improve your manuscript.
That and Grammarly. While it may not catch every grammar error, it vastly improves the readability of your text. Especially if you are grammatically challenged like me. ;-)

I take a break and spend a day or two reading another book. That clears my writer's block and allows me to move on.

I am currently working on sequel to my first book (Wone the Magician). The main character, Celest, was introduced in that book and as I finished writing it I felt her story had just started.

My initial inspiration was good friend suggesting I take up story writing when I retired. She recommended trying the National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) November Challenge to jumpstart my effort and I found it very helpful to focus my writing.
