I like to take a break and take a breather. Sometimes, that means going for a walk, watching a movie, reading a book, talking about the issue with someone else to get their opinions on it or work on a different part of the story. I find the latter two usually works as it generally gets the creative juices flowing again. The bottom line is that I try not to put too much pressure on myself as it can devolve into a catch-22.
