David Gunter The many things I did in China in the late 90s and discovering why could make for a great plot. Why I met the royal princess of Xijiang and her mother and aunt. Why I met the man who created the Chinese internet network. Why I met the ambassador of Iran's daughter and her private teacher and his family. I met many other people that could be of interest. For a time I was on billboards and commercials in that country and I even have the unique privilege of saying that I was married in down town Shanghai at the church near the people's square, something impossible for most foreigners. My love for the Chinese people goes deep and is written on my children's faces.
David Gunter The idea came from a dream I had in 2005. In the dream I was alone and I dreamt that all the people that I loved had died. I was left with two little rabbits to nurture and take care of and they were my only friends. I remember that I had a field of carrots and would feed them all day long. Then they grew up and didn't need me anymore and I was alone again. I wondered endlessly throughout the world calling for my little rabbits and they hid and wouldn't let me see them. Then I decided I couldn't breath anymore and I started suffocating and in those desperate moments as I gasped for air the two little rabbits appeared and took my hands and said "Hi Dad, we'll miss you". Then I woke up and the entire story came to me for this series.
David Gunter I feel the wind on my face and I want to tell somebody about it. I, however, am a complicated creature so I can't simply tell you how I feel. Instead, I create a character and tell you how they feel and pretend it isn't me that feels that way.
David Gunter I'm working on myself. That's why I'm writing. I want to find out what the thing is that makes me tick.
David Gunter Write and never stop. Nobody and no one has the right to tell you otherwise.
David Gunter There are no limits. The universe and places I create are fully mine.
David Gunter I sit down and write. I write letters and numbers. I write about the feeling of having writers block. I write about the feel of the keys under my fingers tips. Then I erase what I've written and write my book. Done!
