I write for myself. My own fantasies. So if I think a scene needs to go a certain way to make it sizzle, then I can make it go that way. After years of doing this, I have a fully-stocked library of hundreds of scenes to choose from - each one of them up to my standards, as well as a broad selection of characters.

I have no shortage of story ideas, but occasionally I will run into a point where I get stuck. Character A needs to end up in a situation with Character B in order to make the sizzle that I imagined work. And work realistically.
So I will leave it. Walk away. At some point in the next day or two, while in that 'fantasy' zone, an idea will come to me that will make it work.
