Sreeja Chakraborty The Hungry Tide, In an Antique Land, Twilight in Delhi, Whereabouts, Brick Lane, Norwegian Wood, and whatever else catches my fancy in the course of reading.
Sreeja Chakraborty The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. What would I do there? Why, I'd live there for the rest of my life!
Sreeja Chakraborty I do not have a go-to way of dealing with writer's block. I have writer's block quite often and I think the only way to not aggravate it is to give yourself a break. Do what you feel like. I mostly find myself picking up an old hobby or going back to an old obsession when I'm blocked. For example, the last time I had writer's block, I took a break and taught myself baking. And I sold quite a few loaves of bread, and quite a few cupcakes and cheesecakes. I believe you have to let yourself find a different medium of expression from time to time.
Sreeja Chakraborty Read, read, read. Learn. Actively seek out criticism and accept it. Work on your language: even poetic license is no excuse for bad grammar, misspelt words, and nonsensical construction. Read more of what you want to write. Ask those who are qualified to give you advice: seniors, teachers, writers with more experience than you, and if you can manage it, your role models.
Sreeja Chakraborty A book review and my second book of poems.
Sreeja Chakraborty I find inspiration in books, movies, web series, everyday things, nature, and a lot of other sources. To tell the truth, life itself is a source of inspiration to me.
Sreeja Chakraborty I have been writing poetry since the age of nine, and I always wanted to be a published author. However, I am a very self-critical poet, so it took me years to actually write good enough pieces, and weeks to select the best out of the hundreds of poems I had written so far. Musings of an Indian Girl is a compilation of my very best from 2006-2020.
