C.E. Moore I am an avid hiker and have always loved nature and being in the outdoors. There wasn't an exact moment when the lightbulb clicked on, but I began to pay more attention to the amazing interactions happening within a natural environment. The intricate dance of survival for both plants and animals within their particular habitat is remarkable. I wanted to create a book (and hopefully a series) that would spark the curiosity of young readers to learn about the natural world much, much earlier than I did. While nature doesn’t have borders, there is a sense of pride in the places we are from or where we choose to call home, which is why we're going state by state and beginning with Alabama.

C.E. Moore Though based on a real place, if I could travel to any fictional book world, it would be the Prince Edward Island of the Anne of Green Gables and Avonlea books. The magical landscape of hills, cliffs and water that L.M. Montgomery beautifully portrayed in the series has always resonated with me. I'd amble by the Lake of Shining Waters, the Haunted Wood, and Lover’s Lane and name every tree and flower just as Anne did. Perhaps at the end of the day, I'd relax with a glass of raspberry cordial reveling in
the "home o' dreams" of Anne's fanciful imagination.
