The idea for my new novel, The Wizard and the White House, actually came from reading NIkolai Gogol. The specific story is :"The Nose." I thought: what would happen if someone lost their mouth? And what if that person happened to be the President of the United States" And from there, the story took off.

It sort of just happens. Sometimes it's something that comes to mind while I'm driving. Last night, I had a very odd dream that prodded me to write a sort of futuristic apocalyptic story. So inspiration comes at all times and usually when you least expect it.

I have three projects. I'm working on getting my novel, which will be released on November 1, out there. The publisher is doing a log of the work but so am I and it's very time consuming.
I'm also on working on the finishing touches for a book of poetry called Haunted Garden which will be released in May 2015.
Finally, I'm finishing up a new manuscript of poems called Let's Call It Paradise which I want to send out to some publisher in the near future.
Then I hope to start on a new novel.

The ago old adage: read. Read everything you love and read the masters. And then keep writing. You need to develop a voice which will happen the more you write. It's a process of discovery.

I love the creative process and seeing the final product. Of course, getting something new published is also exciting but ultimately it is the creative process that I love.

I let things sit. Eventually ideas comes to me and then I write. If I'm in the middle of a piece, I just reread what I've already written. That always brings up new ideas.
