Cate Cullington I’m trying out a different genre. I’ve written two crime books and the third is a family drama.

Cate Cullington Spending time alone. The world is relentlessly busy sometimes with many demands on our time and attention. Once you actually are a writer, people accept that you’re quite happy not being in the pub/ at the party/ shopping/ exercising etc etc so there’s a freedom that comes with it.
Cate Cullington I dealt with it by starting to write another book. I found that one would naturally stall and then I would concentrate on the other one for a few days by which time I was ready to go back to the first one. I think it helps to stop thinking about the book you’re ‘blocked’ on and give your mind a complete break from it.
Cate Cullington Tom’s midnight garden. I read it when I was a child and thought it was a fantastic piece of escapism. I always was in a world of my own as a child so this book really resonated.
