Bianca Jarboe Doesn't Need to Explain, the third in the Enchanted Rock series, set in the Texas Hill Country. I'm also doing research for a series set in Eastborough, Kansas that will have a historical subplot.

If it's a new draft, I get quiet so I can hear my characters. If it's one that's pretty well fleshed out, I'll listen to music while adding scenes or details. When I hit a wall, I'll take my dogs outside, and the fresh air clears my head.

When I wrote the first book, I had developed the backstory for Bianca, a character I adore. There wasn't room for her story, but I always wanted to revisit. Now that I'm writing the third book in the Enchanted Rock series, I have the opportunity to honor her family's tragedy and her personal comeback story.
