Mel Stone I'm currently working on The Ghost of Spring, which I'm aiming for a July release. After that, it will be Sophie and Nathaniel's turn again and I hope to have them done by December.
Mel Stone Yes! I hope to put out a Novella once a year about Sophie and Nathaniel. I've been wondering how much trouble she can get into by visiting his family in Ireland.....
Mel Stone He lifted the stinking, laughing baby from the crib. "Your turn," he said.
Mel Stone Ninja Pirate Robot Space Monkeys. Yeah, it's a little document I fill with the big tropes ever that NO ONE will ever see but me. It's cheesy, and gross, and often hilarious. When I hit a wall, I go see how the ninja pirate robot space monkeys are doing. It helps to work on something else, but there's no pressure because it's just for me.
Mel Stone The people I get to meet. I love readers, I love writers, I love the advertising people, I love the teachers, I love how everyone wants everyone else to succeed.
Mel Stone Butt in chair, fingers on keyboard every day (well, take the weekends off). Even if you just write a sentence that day! Open your document every day and do something with it.
Mel Stone Currently, I'm working on a short story about Sophie and her husband Nathaniel, how they meet, and what's not entirely right about him. It takes place during the Gordon Riots in 1780. HOOOO BOY! Did I get dragged down the research hole there! What was supposed to be a simple short story has turned into a research paper. It's taking me longer to write than I would like, but I want to get things right for my readers and give them quality material to read that they enjoy, are full of suspense, and maybe they're just a little smarter than when they started.
Mel Stone So many things! But other books really are what inspire me. I always start wondering, "But what if???" and my ideas take off from there.
Mel Stone It was from the old tale of Bluebeard, and all the wives he killed. I wanted to put a twist on it and make him the good guy. It was a long process to fill in any plot holes or mistakes that came up because of that!
