Thank you for the question, Donna. We have not seen the last of Chance McQueen. And subscribers to my newsletter will get a free novella this winter that is within the world of Falling. You can subscribe at my website https://www.matthewewheeler.com

I give myself permission to walk away. Sometimes for an hour, sometimes for a week. Writing can be like certain adult activities. The more pressure you put on yourself to perform, the worse the results will be. I mean so I've read anyway. Relax, be calm, and the magic will happen.

Being able to wear pajamas to work. Living in a dream world. Having someone laugh or cry at something you've written.

Wow. I don't think I know enough to give advice. But I will anyway. Nothing you write is ever as good or as bad as you think. Also, find the process that works for you. Never compare your process to anyone else's. Some writers will crank out 5,000 words a day. Some a sentence. Figure out what works for you and maximize it. Don't let ignorance and fear stop you from learning. Be humble and kind to yourself in what you don't know but seek out knowledge everywhere.

I am currently finishing the sequel to Falling. There are also around three other books that are in a cage fight within my head. Three books enter one book leaves.

It's not so much as being inspired as it is trying to get all the stuff swirling around in my head 24/7 out. I've always had a fantastical imagination. In class as a kid, I would sit and daydream about Russians attacking the school and I'd imagine how I would react. A whole movie would play in my head. Sub Russians for aliens, Cubans, zombies, or dragons, and this was why I didn't learn much in class. I would imagine commercials I could make for products when I was twelve and I still have what I think is a rock-solid idea for Diet Pepsi. I would shoot music videos in my head based on songs I loved. It has never stopped and as I was approaching forty I decided enough was enough. I had to start writing them down.

Twenty plus years in the restaurant industry. A bar in Milwaukee that sold cigarettes without a Federal Tax Stamp. Was once at a club in Milwaukee and I almost got beaten up by two guys who were alleged to be, "connected."
