Music helps me with my writing. I will pop on my headphones and blast my favorite tunes for a while. It clears things out and kind of resets my mind. I will also use Art when I am blocked. Looking at paintings has the same effect on me as music.

I think the chance to create something that has the potential to impact a limitless number of people is a huge draw for me. Writing also uses the other side of my brain, which I don't get a chance to use in so many other parts of my life.

Write every day. Even if there is only time for a sentence or two. Find the time to get something written. Try to learn about your own creativity. Monitor yourself and what the circumstances are where you find yourself to be the most creative and productive. Work to create those situations, so you can maximize your creativity. Read often.

I'm trying to decide on that. I have started a couple of different stories, and I am hoping that one of them kind of takes over and makes itself the clear project to focus on next.

I don't think I've ever not been inspired to write. There is a world of people living in my mind and there is a sort of pressure to transfer their stories to the page. What inspires me is that feeling of seeing there lives go from my mind onto a page and the sort of relief that I feel when that is done.

In the neighborhood where I grew up, there was a mysterious house. I never saw anyone come or go; although, there were clearly people living there. I think that my imagination ran wild a bit in those years making up stories about who might have lived there and what they were like. I think those stories were the inspiration for Lightning Bugs.
