My go to genre is always going to be Sci-fi/Fantasy with elements of humor and light-hearted romance. I often try to branch out to other genres as well and summer is a great time to do that.

Write as much as you can: in a journal, little snippets of your observations in notebooks, writing prompts, etc.
Read as much as you can, especially outside of your chosen genre.
Appreciating the writing journey itself, finishing each version of your story and celebrating those milestones are more important than getting your book published fast. Take your time and have fun!

I don’t have writer’s block per say. When I feel that the writing doesn’t flow naturally, I just take a bit of break, like going on a walk, watching a movie etc. I do not think about my story during that time. Almost always, an idea or solution pops in my mind that very night, or the next day. Sometimes our brain needs a little more time to come up with answers, and forcing it won’t help.
