Depending on what I'm trying to write, I have various techniques. Sometimes, if I'm a bit burned out I just need to go and consume other stories. I'll start reading voraciously, trying to replenish the 'well' so to speak. Other times, if I'm just having trouble with a particular story because I can't get in the mood, I'll use music that I associate with the book or I'll look at photos of the characters, places, etc that always get my writer juices going.

As many of my books do, Of Ash & Shadow came to me as the opening chapter reader's will see when they open the book. I tend to daydream and I see most of my books as a movie in my head, so oftentimes whatever pops into my head is how I begin the book. This helps as I tend to have rather action-packed daydreams.

So many! I'm currently reading From Blood & Ash by Jennifer Armentrout and thoroughly enjoying it, but as for what's next - I'm not sure. My TBR list is LONG!
