At the moment, I'm splitting my time between promoting my debut novel and working on a novella, interspersed with short stories on the same theme. I am also working through a plot for a sequel to Alfred Jones and Son, Bros.

I'll be honest, I don't actually enjoy the process of writing(I know) and here is the really sick thing I do. When I'm sitting full of self-doubt and staring at a blank document, I start to read some really terrible work from nameless authors. This inspires me because I know that no matter what dribble I produce that particular day, it will never be as bad as the stuff I've just read. Sad but true.

I was already working on a novel when one evening on a drive home on a dark and and stormy night(no kidding) I lived on the West Coast of Scotland at the time and the drive took me along the shores of a Sea Loch. I spotted a crude hand painted sign that pointed into nothing but forest. It simply said 'Jones Brothers' a seed was sown. It took me about a week to figure out that I was thinking more about this than the plot of the novel I was supposed to be working on... The rest as they say...
