Garth Jeffries Well, I'm pretty much still an aspiring writer myself. But given what I've learned over the last year or so, I could offer a few thoughts:

1. Write what you know. I'm sure you've heard this before but it is the best advice. It will give your story authenticity and credibility that only you can bring.

2. Don't give up. If a story isn't working, try some new approaches or directions. Find a friend to talk things through and who can look at your story from a new perspective.

3. Have fun and enjoy the process.
Garth Jeffries I was sitting on the beach last summer and saw a whale breach just offshore. That triggered something in my imagination and after talking it through with my wife, we had the entire outline completed for Starbuck, Nantucket Redemption in about two days.
Garth Jeffries For me, it is a wonderful creative outlet. I've always had a pretty active imagination and writing lets me enjoy that part of me.
Garth Jeffries In addition to several new releases out this summer, my primary goal is to read some of my favorites from childhood. This would include the James Herriot "All Creatures" series (almost made me become a vet) and my all-time favorite, A Watership Down. If you haven't read any of these I would highly recommend!
