What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?
SamiJo McQuiston I wish I could answer this without getting in trouble, but I can say I could probably write at least two-juicy, who done it type books.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
SamiJo McQuiston Fairy-tales, lore, and one very bizarre dream.

How do you get inspired to write?
SamiJo McQuiston Honestly? Sadness and a need to escape reality.

SamiJo McQuiston The next book in the Abney Kelly series, along with a few other projects.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
SamiJo McQuiston Somedays you're a genius, and somedays a five-year-old could write it better than you. Don't stop and don't let other people stop you. Somewhere out there, someone is waiting to read your book.

What’s the best thing about being a writer?
SamiJo McQuiston Being able to build your own world, so you don't have to live in the real one.

How do you deal with writer’s block?
SamiJo McQuiston I start writing something else, even if it's just a journal entry or a stupidly long description of a lamp.

Can you tell us a two-sentence horror story?
SamiJo McQuiston I wandered into the kitchen and opened the refrigerator. To my absolute mortification, I found there was no more cheese.

If you could travel to any fictional book world, where would you go and what would you do there?
SamiJo McQuiston Dalemark, from Diana Wynne Jone's, Cart and Cwidder. I would be riding in the caravan with the Clennenson family!

What books are on your summer reading list this year?
SamiJo McQuiston I'm not sure. I'm hoping to pick up some awesome reads from a few indie-authors.
